The Good News of Jesus!
No matter how good a life we try to live, we still fall miserably short of being a good person. That is because we are all sinners. The Bible says, “No one is good—not even one” (Romans 3:10) and that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Yet there is hope even in our fallen condition as the Bible tells us that “God showed His great love for us by sending [Jesus] Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” This is the Good News, that God loves us so much that He sent His only Son Jesus to die in our place; to take the penalty of your sin and mine upon Himself on the cross. Yet a few short days later, Jesus rose again, showing Himself to many before ascending to Heaven until He returns again to gather all who believe in Him home to spend eternity with Him, while those who reject Him will spend eternity separated from Him in hell, in the lake of fire (Revelation 21:8), in eternal torment, where “there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 13:42).
The Bible tells us, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away” (Acts 3:19). The word repent means to change our direction in life. Instead of running from God, we can run toward Him. Becoming a Christian is not merely believing some creed or going to church. It is having Christ Himself take residence in your life and heart. Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in . . .” (Revelation 3:20).
If you would like to have a relationship with Christ, start by praying this prayer and mean it in your heart:
“Heavenly Father, I know that I am a sinner and that I deserve to go to hell. I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins. I do now receive him as my Lord and personal Savior. I promise to serve you to the best of my ability. Please save me. In Jesus name, Amen.”
